A PEOPLE CALLED AFRIKA
These are simple solutions to seemingly complex problems and
instead of running around trying to create a vaccine that modi-
fies a person’s DNA or destroys his natural immune function,
how about, Afrika simply takes the position of healing the land,
healing the water, healing the air, healing the plants, healing
the animals and healing society in general. Of a certainty, all of
these will contribute to greater physical and social well-being in
the continent. More than any money, house or car ever could.
Afrikan Indigenous Knowledge System practitioners like Dr.
Jack Githae carry with them, the wisdom to be able to synthesize
solutions for Afrika from the problems she faces, and to do so in
a holistic manner. This is not limited to the area of medicine but
this wisdom is available for other arenas as well, and offers Afri-
ka the keys and tools to begin to rebuild, albeit from new foun-
dations, taking into account the new global realities facing us.

In a world as enamored with and entrapped by materialism
and the pursuit of money as this one is, Afrika must under-
stand that the quagmire she has decided to jump into could
destroy her totally. Her current economic state as measured
by global standards is bleak but the silver lining about that
is that it means that though she may be working for the sys-
tem, the system is not working for her. A clean disengage-
ment is possible, along with the embrace of a whole new par-
adigm for Afrika that allows her to disavow what the world
holds dear and build a beautiful alternative for herself to
teach the rest of the world through. However, in order for
her to do this, she must dig deep to try to find an option
that will help Afrika break totally away from the corrupting
