A PEOPLE CALLED AFRIKA

they choose, instead, to silence dissenting voices and to chart
a course that would favor those who had taken over their
lands? Why did not they pursue a return to much of what
Afrika had prior to the oppressive rule of the white man?

The truth is that the colonialists never actually relinquished
their hold on Afrika. We call what they did a strategic with-
drawal. Upon realizing that the resistance and militancy in
the colonies was on the increase, thereby effectively disrupt-
ing the ‘colonial extractive industry’, the colonialists made a
determination to put into effect the biggest public relations
scam in history: the Afrikan independence narrative. It’s
simple, ‘grant’ the Afrikans their wish of being free by ‘giving
them permission’ to run the affairs of their countries and
make a public show of it, but in reality, carefully select those
who are to take over the running of the ‘new’ governments,
hand-picking individuals who will toe the colonial line and
continue to provide access to resources and influence in the
country and continent. Motivate them through money, the
promise of security of tenure i.e. the government will not face
sudden civil war and the individual gets to live (not be assassi-
nated mysteriously) and maintain the appearance of running
             their country.

This they did for those friendly to them. For those not friend-
ly, they simply started coups, civil wars and assassinations.
In the most horrible sense, Afrikans have continued under
a de facto colonization for six or so decades, under black
puppet rulers who are completely given over to the whims
of their masters because they fear death or economic disen-
franchisement. Because of this, generations of Afrikans have
and are being raised to desire compromise, safety and com-
