A PEOPLE CALLED AFRIKA
for not liking Afrika or Nigeria was simple. My young curious
mind could not understand why a man (Afrikan or Nigerian)
would know the right thing to do and choose not to do it, either
because he wanted to save face or he was just too ignorant of the
consequences of his choices. I did not want to have anything to
do with Nigeria or Afrika and I was sincere about it. But little
did I know that my mandate and assignment from God would
be about Afrika. Now I love Afrika and her people and would
do anything to make her see her true potential. And by this,
I do not mean to make her see the potential that will make
her more of a slave of economy, tax, money or false wealth.
Her true potential is that which is connected directly to
the eternal things God has in mind for the world, through
her obedience to Christ. Simple. Every other thing is just
the reward that comes from using that true potential.”
In truth, Afrikan countries, at 60, are facing the consequences
of their wrong, bad, wicked, selfish, greedy and cowardly choic-
es. Her leaders and her people - in equal measure - have made
some poor, shameful and woeful decisions that quite literally
have hamstrung the entire continent, leaving her in an extreme-
ly peculiar limbo. Is she strong or weak? Is she knowledgeable
or ignorant? Is she cowardly or brave? Is she educated or not?
Is she spiritual or carnal? Is she poor or rich? This is an ideo-
logical wilderness that we have been wandering in for years.
The world says one thing about Afrika, the leaders agree with
it, the people choose leaders who either con, oppress or bully
them into agreeing with what they are saying and for some bi-
zarre reason, keep choosing them over and over again despite
being completely dissatisfied with the outcome time and again.
