It was also a memorable moment when a man touched the head of the snake without a deadly bite. The drummers dressed in white kanzus chanted, %u201cSherehe ni leo, %u201cSherehe imefika.%u201d (The time for celebration is here). Others dressed in traditional African attire shouted in unison, %u201cLamu tamu! Karibuni wageni%u201d (Lamu is beautiful, welcome visitors). The elderly wrapped themselves in kikoi and strolled along the seashore, chorusing, %u201cAllahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Llahu. Wa Llahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar wa lillahi l-hamd.%u201d (Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, there is no god but Allah. And Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, and to Allah belongs all praise). Other men and women in black and white outfits, written %u201cSherehe Kisiwani%u201d were moving from one household to another. They were distributing small placards written in the Arabic language with symbols of the Lamu eye and accompanied by children reciting, %u201cLa ilaha illa Llahu.
