A POEM

             the Harvest

You were plundered to the depth of your soul
You were stripped of everything you owned Uncontrollable disease destroyed the
Your plunders were foreign and local harvest
Yet you remained hopeful Suffering wore down your generations
                                                                    Yet you remained hopeful
Your traditional crops were shamed and
shunned You’re hopeful because you know
Your fields were filled with foreign crops something
Your fields were sprayed with chemicals You’re hopeful because you see far
Yet you remained hopeful You’re hopeful you understand
You are hopeful because you are
Your children were convinced you are Alkebulan

             You were plunged into war
Sons rose against their fathers Your true children are coming
Brothers rose against their mothers and The hope you held onto is producing
