Surrender
FOREWORD
Remember the old song?
“Thy Word is a Lamp unto my feet and a Light unto my path.
When I feel afraid, feel I’ve lost my way, still You’re here right beside me.
Nothing will I fear, as long as You are near. Please be near me to the end.”
That’s what was sounding in my head as I started to read this book again
and as I thought about this little but mighty keg of dynamite – Fannis –
and her life with Him. The song, derived from Psalm 119:105 speaks of
total dependence on the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit for
every single step and decision that we make. Anyone who knows Fannis
Mwende knows of her sole dependency on God for all things and her
deeply personal encounters and interactions and even wrestling matches
with Him on so many deep levels. This book really is her epistle to us
and to the world about the type of fruit we can expect to see when we
diligently depend upon Him, fervently seek Him and solely love Him
with all great passion.
I don’t know how many have made the determined dedication to walk
with Him with such singular purpose and intimacy – and to return to
Him with so great a commitment when we drift away, as does happen
on this journey sometimes. When we allow ourselves to get caught up
in ‘things’. His faithful steadfastness is the Rock that keeps us steady
even in the shakings and gives us comfort that everything is going to be
alright again. And so, I thank You, Father, for these things. We are so
grateful for You.
I pray that this book will remind you of the things you need to
remember about your walk with God and help you to let go and surren-
der all those things which hinder the place that you know – deep down
