          ONYE OMAM (My Beloved)
A phrase in Igbo language used to describe a lovely and loved person. Here de-
scribes the love and mercy of God towards man.

          Onye Omam
I come through the gates with thanksgiving
I walk past the people who sing Your praise in the courts
I honor the priest who stands by the alter
The longing in my heart draws me into the holies of holies
To the greatest place of honor, at Your feet.

          Onye Omam
          What a privilege it is
To sit at Your feet, cuddled under Your shadow
To hear You discuss with the elders that sit before You
To see the angels go with divine errands issued from Your throne
And come with sacrifices of praise
From the grateful hearts of them that are called by Your name
To watch the cherubim and seraphim worship with dance
Full of splendor and honor to You and You alone.

          Onye Omam
My heart is full and wants to tell of the things it hears in Your chamber
How far You reach out to them who call upon You
How eager You are to establish degrees, if they make one
How sure and unshaken Your word is, if they can believe it
How Your heart hurts, when they let sin drive them away from You
How You rejoice over every victory they accept from Your finished battles
