Over 1300 communities pay dues to the Local Governments for Sustainability, formerly called the
International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI). LGS provides community plans,
software and training. Additional local deployment entities include the American Planning
Association (a huge AGENDA 21 organization), The Renaissance Planning Group, International City /
County Management Group, the US Mayors Conference, National Governors Association, National
League of Cities, National Association of County Administrators and many more private
organizations and official government agencies. Foundation and government grants
drive the process.
