                    40. AGENDA 21 IN SAN JUAQUIN VALLEY, CALIFORNIA

Government Environmental Policies under the guise of the AGENDA 21 Endangered Species Act led to
the San Joaquin Valley Delta Smelt putting 40,000 farmers out of business in March 2008 where they
can’t irrigate some of the best soil in the U.S. “losing more than one million acre-feet of water
annually; enough to irrigate 300,000 acres or a land area roughly half the size of Rhode Island.”

“The California Fish and Game Commission ruled in favor of the Long fin and Delta smelt (a two inch
minnow) over the livelihoods of 60,000 workers and land owners in California’s San Joaquin Valley,
considered by many to be the richest and most productive farmland in the nation. The
environmentalists shut off the water pumps to farmers, prohibiting them from irrigating their
fields. Aside from the vast loss in food production to the world, the workers all went on
unemployment overnight! With an annual rainfall of 12 inches, the place looked like a dust bowl in a
             few short months.”

implemented through the various federal agencies. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) is
